How You Can Help
Educating Children International has established non-formal elementary schools where no school facilities are available; they currently have four schools set-up in Kolkata. These schools are for deprived, underprivileged and orphan children. However 75% of these children are orphans and as they put it in India: ” sleep under the stars.” Therefore there is a huge need for a Residential School (Combined School and Orphanage) to be built, which will be a safe place for the Orphans to live and get their education: something they certainly would never get.
Up until now Mohammad Khallil Ullah, the Director of Educating Children International has been funding the entire program on the back of his English Education business in Kolkata. The children affectionately refer to him as “The Father of Hope.” We are here in Kolkata volunteering at his schools and helping him to get this Orphanage built.
While we have accomplished a lot for the children, more help is needed. The Orphanage will house and educate up to 1,000 children. If you’ve seen Slumdog Millionaire you know the conditions and how valuable a safe learning and living environment is.
This project needs US$275,000 from start to finish. Here are some of the ways you can help:
